Thin, flexible high-sensitivity piezoelectric film sensor "PicoLeaf"
Detects micro-displacements on the order of 1μm! A piezoelectric film sensor that is thin, flexible, and suitable for curved surfaces and narrow spaces.
"Picoleaf" is a highly sensitive piezoelectric film sensor developed by Murata Manufacturing using its unique piezoelectric technology. It can detect slight "bending," "twisting," "pressure," and "vibration," and is capable of detecting minute displacements on the order of 1μm. It features an ultra-thin and flexible structure with a thickness of less than 0.2mm, allowing it to be mounted on curved surfaces and in tight spaces. It can also be utilized for sensing in locations where traditional sensors would be difficult to install, such as in metal housings and wet environments. Additionally, it has non-pyroelectric properties that make it less susceptible to temperature influences, ensuring stable detection performance. The sensor uses an organic piezoelectric film based on plant-derived polylactic acid, making it environmentally friendly by being PFAS-free and lead-free. It is recommended for the development of new sensing applications in wearable devices, medical and healthcare equipment, electronic musical instruments, smart home appliances, touch panels, and IoT devices. Sanei Electronics, as the primary distributor for Murata Manufacturing, provides support from product selection to evaluation kits, implementation considerations, and delivery for Picoleaf.
